Brent was born in 1941 and went to school in the New Westminster area where he joined the RCMP in 1964. After training in Regina he spent the next 22-years working in the Saskatchewan communities of Radville, Regina, Naicam, Mossbank and Meadow Lake. In 1987 after retiring from the Force, he joined the Bank of Canada in Regina as a security officer. Brent
has been bagpiping since he was twelve years old. He started under the direction of Albert Duncan of the Seaforth Highlanders when he created the Lester Pearson High School band in New Westminster, BC.
| | He has had many pipng highlights in his career, many with the Streetsville Pipes and Drums in Mississauga, Ont., Wa Wa Shrine Pipes and Drums and more recently, the RCMP Pipes and Drums. On August 8, 2000, the Streetsville P & D while touring Scotland, played for the Queen and Princess Margaret on the grounds of Balmoral Castle. In May, 2005 while Her Majesty was visiting Regina, Brent was fortunate to play for her at the RCMP Mayerthorpe Memorial Parade at “Depot” Division and the evening City of Regina banquet held in her honour. After moving back to Regina in 2001, Brent, along with others, created the RCMP F Division Pipes and Drums. Brent retired from the force as Pipe Major of the RCMP Regina Pipes and Drums in October,2011 and he and Yvette moved to Chemainus, BC where they are currently enjoying a new adventure. Brent plays with the
“E” Division Pipe Band whenever he can. | | |
